No matter your level, critiques are vital in recognizing where you may be able to improve your photography, increase market penetration, and broaden your client base.
What we do:
- Touch on professional business practices and develop your 'toolkit' for approaching curators, publishers, and buyers.
- Maximize your presence in competitions and portfolio reviews including preparation and design, material selection, and image selection.
- Institute a research direction to keep you informed and on top of emerging opportunities.
- Prioritize your submissions and potential clients.
- Inspire you to stay hungry in your pursuit of photographic excellence.
What we do not do:
- Make direct introductions with arts professionals
- Act on your behalf as an agent or representative
-

Here at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography we are regularly asked to review works for artists and to consider their portfolio for exhibition. Though local photographers are selected exclusively through our annual competition, we are happy to offer consultations for the photographic community at very attractive prices. Photographers are able to meet with curator Stephen McNulty on Mondays and Tuesdays, outside of normal gallery hours, to discuss one on one your work's strengths and weaknesses and develop professional options to polish your portfolio and shop it to potential clients and editors. |
|
Photographers are encouraged to bring 10-25 of their strongest images packaged as though they were approaching their client and allow at least an hour for the review process (additional time may be purchased for $99 per hour). During the hour we will not simply review your work, but your business strategy and suggest ways to optimize your exposure and branding. If you do not have access to professional editing equipment and printers you may also consider a masterproofing session to maximize the luster of your prints.
